After testing the limitations of subsidised fuel, the government through the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) have stated that there are cars that are prohibited from using Pertalite fuel and subsidised diesel. This restriction has been carried out in order to reduce the burden of the subsidy budget draining the government’s overall budget. In addition, this decision assists in the distribution of fuel subsidies so that they can be more strictly regulated in their usage. Previously, PT Pertamina (Persero) had set registrations regarding the purchase of pertalite fuel and subsidised diesel through MyPertamina, but currently prospective buyers only need to show the QR Code obtained after registering their vehicle through the MyPertamina application.
The Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Irto Ginting, said that currently subsidised fuel is still being consumed by both the middle and upper classes.
“Almost 60% of the rich enjoy almost 80% of the total consumption of subsidised fuel. Meanwhile, the poor and the vulnerable at the bottom 40 percent only enjoy about 20 percent of the total consumption of subsidised fuel," said Irto as quoted from the kontan.co.id page.
Currently, Pertamina is expanding Mypertamina trials in several areas, including Bekasi and DKI Jakarta. Since the trial, the MyPertamina application has covered 50 cities or districts in 27 provinces.

How to Register for Subsidised Gas
Currently, Pertamina is still opening registrations for users of subsidised gas, although Pertamina has not been able to confirm the implementation of this BBM purchase restriction. However, people with cars who are entitled to use subsidised fuel are expected to register immediately, either through the registration booth at Pertamina gas stations which will be assisted by officers directly, through the subsidy website precise.mypertamina.id, or the MyPertamina application.
Consumers are not required to use the MyPertamina application so consumers need to show a QR Code that has been previously printed or stored on a smartphone.
"If you get a QR Code, the QR Code will be attached to the vehicle. So if you don't want to use your cellphone, the QR Code will be simply laminated on the windshield of the car or motorcycle, so there's no need to use one’s cell phone at the gas stations," said Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati as quoted from the cnbcindonesia.com page.
In order to register, consumers are simply required to upload a number of documents to get a QR Code. Documents will differ depending on the type of vehicle that is to be registered. For private cars, the documents required are as follows.
-
ID card photo
-
Selfie
-
Photo of STNK Front and back (opened)
-
KIR's photo
-
All vehicle photos are visible
-
Photo of vehicle registration number
Meanwhile, for commercial goods or passenger vehicles, consumers need to attach a photo of KIR and a letter of recommendation.
The following steps are required for new users to register via the website:
-
Prepare the following documents, namely: KTP, STNK, Vehicle Photos, and other supporting documents
-
Go to the website subsiditepat.mypertamina.id
-
Check that you understand the requirements
-
Click register now
-
Follow the instructions on the website
-
Wait for the data matching process for a maximum of 14 working days regarding the registered email address, or check the registration status on the website periodically
-
If it has been confirmed, download the QR code and save it for transactions at Pertamina gas stations
