To identify a vehicle, each number plate has a unique series according to the region or province the vehicle originates from. Come on, see more information about number plate information in Indonesia.
How to read vehicle license plates.
Before discussing the list of number plate codes in Indonesia, it's good to know in advance how to read them. The number plate is at least divided into three parts, namely the initial letter, number plate number, and the letter after the vehicle number, each of which has a meaning.
Like the initial letters on the vehicle number plate which indicates where the vehicle is from. Each region in Indonesia has a different number plate to facilitate identification of the origin of a vehicle.
Then there is also a row of numbers on the license plate to indicate the serial number of a vehicle, which is usually located after the letter code of the vehicle's origin. The numbers 1-2999 are used for passenger vehicles, while the numbers 8000-8999 are set for vehicles carrying passengers or goods. Meanwhile, motorcycles use the code number 3000-6999, buses with the numbers 7000-7999, and trucks with the code 9000-9999.
After the first letter code and a series of numbers, then there is a letter code which generally indicates the type of vehicle by class. For example, the vehicle number plate B 1890 SAT has the meaning of S as the area code, A represents the type of car, and T is the distinguishing alphabet.
